Today’s artwork is by Patti Dinsmore Bierley ’89. Here is what Patti had to say about her art career:

“I began my love of art when I started taking Saturday morning art classes in 4th grade with Mr. Winklbauer. Who knew that one day, I would fill in as a teacher of those very classes?

I continued this passion throughout my years at Elk County Catholic High School. After graduation, I attended Edinboro University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Art Education. I began my teaching career at St. Marys Parochial Elementary School. Eventually, I moved to St. Marys Area High School and am currently teaching art to our community’s youth in my 28th year of teaching art. I reside in St. Marys with my husband, Paul, and our two daughters, Chloe and Maddie.

Pete Winklbauer is the reason that I became an art teacher. His influence can be seen in my classroom daily. His ability to create an atmosphere in a classroom where every skill level is welcomed and encouraged has been the primary influence on my teaching style. Not only is Mr. Winklbauer an accomplished artist, but his teaching is also an art form that is like no other.”
