Mr. Daghir, a 2011 graduate of Elk County Catholic HS, is very excited about the opportunity to teach Theology at St. Marys Catholic Middle School. He earned his B.S. in elementary education from Saint Vincent College and is certified in secondary English, social studies, and elementary education. Following his college graduation, he taught third-grade for two years in Reynoldsville. When he’s not teaching, Mr. Daghir enjoys the book club he has participated in over the past few years. He recommends Saint John Paul the Great: His Five Loves by Jason Evert.
Welcome back, Mr. Daghir! We are so excited to have you as a new faculty member in our school system!
Pictured is Mr. Daghir with his brother Nick, a junior at ECCHS.
I graduated ECC in 1984. I went on to college at Gannon and medical school at the University of Pittsburgh.
After all that studying, the highlight of my educational experience was at ECC. I will always remember and be eternally grateful for the science teachers who motivated me as a student. I still remember Mr. Lawman, Mrs. Herbstritt, Glenn Daniels…and most importantly Sister Teresita. Sisters Kathleen and Mary Helen were also inspirational.
Teachers may not get paid as much as other professionals, but you truly make a difference in so many lives. Oftentimes you don’t know how much. In my case, I went on to join the US Army Medical Corps and became disabled due to a wartime injury. Thankfully I was able to draw strength from my faith; which was strengthen for life while I was at ECCHS.
So from someone who was shaped into the person that I am today by the teachers at ECC, thank you all so very very much.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, William! And thank you for your kind words! I can’t wait to pass them onto our teachers! Take care!
