Drama Program
be.passionateECCSS has a comprehensive drama program from grades preschool through 12. Read on to find out more information about the performances that are held at each school.
Elementary School
At St. Marys Catholic Elementary School, students are introduced to the stage as they perform performances that entertain and delight their families and friends. Annually, preschool holds a Christmas play; Kindergarten has a mini version at their graduation in May; third grade performs a Bible story, and fourth grade holds a talent show.
At St. Leo School, a Christmas program is performed annually, including Pre-K students through Grade 4. Each year has a different theme, and all shows revolve around Jesus’ coming. A live Nativity scene concludes every presentation. Mrs. Joey Kepple is the producer and director.
Middle/High School
The combined musicals at Elk County Catholic High School and St. Marys Catholic Middle School have become a celebration of student talent and allowed the entire Elk County community to come together to support our student’s talents and abilities. Many parents, former parents, family members, and friends volunteer their time to help with hair, makeup, set and prop construction, sound, and lights. Under the direction of Mr. Simon Glatt, a live orchestra composed of professional adults sit side-by-side with student musicians to provide the musical accompaniment. After months of practice, all the aspects of the performance are integrated seamlessly so that when the lights go on, students can shine both in the footlights on stage and in the not-often-seen, but just as important, backstage production. Students entertain and inspire the audience with full-blown performances of popular Broadway musicals.
Each Spring at St. Leo School, grades 5-8, under the direction of Mrs. Missy Lundin, perform a non-musical play.
