Elk County Catholic High School Students Achieve OSHA-10 Certification, Advancing MET Program
Seven students from the Mechanical, Electrical, and Technology (MET) Foundations program at Elk County Catholic High School (ECCHS) have successfully completed their OSHA-10 training, earning official certification. Under the expert guidance of certified trainer Shaylah Smith, the intensive course covered crucial industry standards, including fall protection, emergency action plans, electrical safety, hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), machine guarding, and hand/power tool safety.
This milestone marks a significant step forward for the MET program, which was developed following extensive consultation with local business leaders to address community workforce needs. ECCHS remains committed to growing this initiative to better prepare students for technical careers.
“We are grateful for the support of our Industrial Technology Advisory Group, whose instrumental involvement was crucial to the success of this program,” said Ted Hanes, System President at ECCSS.
