SMCES Kindergarten and first-grade students had a wonderful time in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program in the atrium, where they explore the teachings of Jesus and the richness of the Mass through the Montessori method.
In this lesson, led by catechist Mrs. Kim Sloff, students learned about the gestures of the Mass — including the “Epiclesis,” when the priest lays his hands over the bread and wine, asking the Father to send His Holy Spirit so that they may become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This powerful gesture reminds us that the gifts of bread and wine are truly the gift of Jesus Himself, given to us with love.
Here, Mrs. Sloff has some kindergarten students practicing this meaningful gesture themselves. What a beautiful way for our youngest learners to connect with their faith!
