Celebrations were in full swing across all our campuses today as we marked the final day before Lent! From meaningful traditions to delicious treats, it was a day to remember for our students and staff.
At the Middle School, religion classes shared a beautiful (and tasty!) tradition by delivering “prayer pretzels” to their teachers—a nod to the long history of pretzels as a symbol of the Lenten season. During lunch, middle and high schoolers enjoyed Kuechels, a traditional Fat Tuesday pastry, thanks to the generosity of the Sacred Heart Social Committee.
Meanwhile, at SMCES, our students celebrated Mardi Gras in style! The cafeteria was transformed into a mini New Orleans with purple, green, and gold decorations. In a fun twist on the King Cake tradition, students searched for tiny “babies” hidden under their chairs for a chance to win a special prize! A huge thank you to the volunteers who made this colorful day possible.
Finally, in Profesora Shrubb’s Spanish classes, students dove into the vibrant world of Carnaval. They explored how Spanish-speaking cultures across the globe celebrate this joyful day of color and culture before the start of Ash Wednesday.
