First Graders Living Their Faith in Action!

Our first graders had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Christian Food Bank on Friday, October 10th. After collecting 141 pounds of food and raising about $350 during our September food drive, students helped pack and deliver the donations.

During their visit, students learned that the Christian Food Bank was founded in 1983 by a group of Christian women from the St. Marys area. It is a non-profit organization operated entirely by volunteers, over 100 people, including some children! The Food Bank is open every Thursday from 1–3 PM, providing pre-packed boxes of food to families in need. The food comes from generous community partners such as Second Harvest, Walmart, Sheetz, Northern Tier, Aldi, and many local individuals and groups.

The children toured the building, saw the large refrigerator, freezer, and shelves filled with canned goods, and learned how these items help feed families in our community.

This experience reminded our students that Jesus calls us to share what we have and care for others. The first graders saw firsthand how their generosity and their faith can make a real difference in the lives of others.
