Alumni Spotlight:
In today’s “Where Are You Wednesday” post, we are featuring alum Craig Dubler, a member of the ECCHS class of 1999. Craig continued his education at Penn State University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Architectural Engineering. Craig currently serves as the Director of Facilities and Professor of Practice in the College of Engineering and Architectural Engineering at Penn State University.
“Growing up in Elk County, I have always enjoyed the outdoors: hiking, fishing, and hunting. I have been blessed with a beautiful wife (Civil Engineer) and two smart, independent daughters (10th and 7th grade). As a family, we are always busy traveling and attending field hockey, girls wrestling, and cheerleading events for the girls. We also attend a lot of Penn State events (Hockey, Wrestling, Football, etc.), said Dubler.”
“My favorite memory from ECCHS is the camaraderie of our 1999 class. Some of my favorite memories were the outdoor club trips, including the bus ride, which was often accompanied by a sing-along serenaded by Josh Bush. Other memories are playing on the ECC sports teams (Soccer and Tennis) and cheering for the other teams I didn’t play on (Football and Basketball). I remember we had some very creative theme cheer sections (camo, Hawaiian shirt, hunter orange, etc.).”
“During my time at ECC, I really enjoyed physics, math, drafting, German, and art. They all taught me something important to use in my college and professional career. Math (Mr. Snelick and Mr. Buchheit ) and physics (Mr. Lawman) gave me an appreciation for the fundamentals of engineering; Drafting (Mr. Schneider) taught me how to solve problems and see different perspectives; German (Mrs. Burke) taught me discipline and an appreciation for humanities; Art (Mr. Winklbauer) was awesome and taught me patience and the ability to sketch ideas. In general, ECC taught me how to learn and apply my knowledge, which I am very grateful for.”
