During the Week of April 28, our students at St. Leo School added their splashes of paint to the America250PA-Elk County Liberty Bell as part of the 4,000 Elk County students who are co-creating the project.

The Bell’s stop at St. Leo School this week was extra-historic in that it marked the completion of the Bell’s three-month tour to all of Elk County’s 14 schools in 11 buildings.

While the Bell was here, Elk County Commissioners Fritz Lecker and Greg Gebauer—who are sponsoring the Bell with Commissioner Matt Quesenberry—along with ECCSS alum John Schlimm—who developed the Abstract Expressionism concept for the Bell—visited while some of the students added their splashes. The Second Graders recited “The Liberty Pledge” that they had memorized for this visit and even showed the guests their recently published books titled “You Are My Hero Because…”!

The completed A250PA-Elk County Liberty Bell will be installed and dedicated on the grounds of the Elk County Courthouse later this Fall.
