The first grade at St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School celebrated National Unicorn Day on Wednesday, April 9th. Students have been reading the story Thelma the Unicorn by Aaron Blakey this week, which is about a pony who wishes to be a unicorn and gets her wish through a bit of chance. She becomes an international sensation but realizes fame isn’t all she thought it would be, ultimately ditching the sparkle and returning to her true self as a pony. The book highlights the importance of accepting oneself and embracing individuality. Students participated in unicorn games, crafts and centers. All had a Magical Day!
