Elk County Catholic welcomes School Security Guard Mike Pearce to our campuses.

ECCSS schools have applied for Targeted School Security grants over the past several years, which have helped us upgrade our security cameras, access technology, and a host of other systems. We included a school security guard in the most recent grant round and were fortunate to have this request funded.

In line with grant requirements, ECCSS is contracting for security through Kellington Protection, one of several vendors approved by state agencies to provide fully trained and certified school security officers. Headquartered near Pittsburgh, Kellington provides licensed security in K-12 schools and universities across Pennsylvania and neighboring states.

Some of the school security guard’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, patrolling school grounds and buildings, responding to emergencies, providing safety measures and conflict resolution, fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and the community, and creating a supportive and safe school environment.

Kellington plans to send an experienced, uniformed guard from their Pittsburgh facilities while a locally-based guard receives the necessary training and certification. The local guard is slated to take over duties at ECCSS schools at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
