Saint Marys Catholic Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in the middle school version of the Crusaders with heART after-school program. The club meets one day per week after school, and middle school students can work on art projects that interest them. Students can do projects with clay, acrylics, watercolors, and other media. Mrs. Lisa Daghir leads the middle school club.

Under the direction of Mrs. Nancy Hoffman, Middle School students at St. Leo School are learning printmaking. For the project, each student was asked to make three printing blocks: one symmetrical design, one repeating pattern, and one drawing on a sheet of foam, making the (line) impressions with a pen after sketching. The students made the printing blocks with foam board bases and glued the cut foam shapes onto them.

Once the printing blocks were created, students printed on watercolor paper or white tagboard using Blick (washable) block printing ink, which was applied to the printing block with a roller. The ink was spread evenly and applied to the rollers by rolling and/or mixing it on acrylic sheets.

The students were asked to create at least three prints on paper, combining their printing blocks and ink colors to make a composition.
