The Catholic tradition of “burying the Alleluia” is a symbolic act that takes place before Lent to mark the end of the joyful song of praise. The tradition honors the solemnity of Lent and anticipates the Easter celebration. Today, St. Marys Catholic Elementary School held a gathering in Queen of the World Church with Pastor Father Jeff Noble to celebrate this tradition. Students carried a banner with the word “Alleluia” into the Church, then the banner was placed in a box at the altar. The students and staff then sang a beautiful rendition of “Alleluia,” led by music teacher Mrs. Karen Carr.
