The fourth-grade class at St. Leo School has a weekly religion magazine called “Venture” that they read together throughout the school year. Venture discusses the gospel for each Sunday, with a corresponding activity.
Recently, the students read about the Beatitudes and then played The Promised Land – a Chutes and Ladders-style game. The object of this game was to support yourself and your family on the hilly fields of the Promised Land. Players plant a crop and hope the harvest will be successful.
Discussing the gospel during the week leading up to Sunday Mass helps students focus on the readings because they review the gospel teachings each week.
