The Kindergarten class at St. Leo School has continued their penguin studies. Last Monday, they completed an experiment on penguin chick feathers. Students then created a “waxy” waterproof adult penguin and used cotton balls to make the downy feathers of a chick. They sprayed each with water and compared.

On Friday, they participated in an activity to replicate how emperor penguins work together to care for their eggs in frigid weather. Students tried to pass the “egg” from their “brood pouch” to their partner without dropping it onto the icy ground. The male emperor penguin keeps the egg for 65 days until the female returns!
