Thank you, Lauren, for your kind words. We are happy to welcome the Bulcher family as part of our school family this year and the community! 💛

“Hi, we are the Bulcher family, Andy and Lauren, with kids Tommy (10th grade) and Jimmy (9th grade) at ECCHS, Theresa (8th), Catherine (6th), Peter (5th), Mary (2nd), Francis & Claire (1st) at St. Leo’s, and baby Louis at home.  We moved to Elk County in the summer of 2024, and our primary draw was the Elk County Catholic School System.  We previously had moved around a lot for domestic and overseas work, and we wanted to find a faithful and affordable Catholic school in a safe and supportive community to put down roots.  We have been very happy with our choice to move to Elk County and send our kids to ECCSS.  We like the tech/career focus of ECCHS as it helps our boys consider the full spectrum of options after high school.  They both enjoy their theology classes as well and often share what they learned each day with the whole family over dinner.  At St. Leo’s, we have been so impressed with the classical curriculum and the depth in which they study historical topics — I’ve learned new facts about ancient Greek leaders from my 6th grader and was surprised and pleased to see my 8th grader learning about political philosophy.  Our kids have attended many public and private schools in the various places we’ve lived, and SLS is the most academically rigorous we have ever seen.  It works because the small class sizes mean that the teachers can give each child individual attention, and the families and teachers support each other as a community.”

“We have been surprised at how many activities are available in the schools and the area.  For example, our younger kids enjoy the sports camps that the varsity players put on in various sports.  The local churches, as well as the town of St. Marys, also have a good number of events for families and kids.  So, while we have never lived in a town this small before, we have not had any trouble staying busy and engaged.  We are happy to chat with anyone who is considering a move to Elk County or is considering ECCSS.”
