The third-grade class at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School recently visited the Greentree Landfill in Kersey, PA, and the Elk County Community Recycling Center.

Students toured the landfill by bus, learning how to responsibly dispose of garbage and how methane gas from the landfill can be used as natural gas. After their visit, the students enjoyed a picnic lunch at their Community Garden back at the school and then traveled to the recycling center, where Ms. Titchner and Mr. Stubber showed the students items made from recyclables. The class learned which items could be recycled and watched recyclables be sorted, crushed, or stacked. Students returned to school ready to reduce, reuse, and recycle to care for God’s creation. 🌎♻
