We would like to recognize some of our youth wrestling students at St. Marys Catholic Middle School.

Jayden Lang, a 7th grader, recently competed in the Tulsa Kickoff Classic tournament in Tulsa, OK. This is the 28th annual running of the event. Many wrestlers from all over the country attend this prestigious tournament with very high-level competition.

This is the first time Jayden has participated in a tournament like this, and he went in with the mindset that he would see a different level of wrestling, push his limits, and see how he fairs against this type of competition. He went 2-2, with wins by pin and tech fall.

He is looking forward to his first junior high match after the holidays. He will be part of the wrestling co-op program with St. Marys Area.

Jayden is the son of Jason and Julie Lang.

Mason Meyers, a 6th-grade student, also participated in the Tulsa tournament. He went 4-2 with 2 wins by pin, 1 tech fall, and one by decision. Mason has wrestled in the Tulsa tournament in the past and has made the podium several times.

Mason also recently placed second in the Super 32 tournament in North Carolina, considered one of the country’s most difficult tournaments.

Mason is the son of Nate and Holly Meyers.
