Day of the Dead Celebration

Elk County Catholic High School celebrated the Day of the Dead in early November. This Mexican holiday honors loved ones who have passed away, and one way is by building altars.

Mrs. Bonnie Reinke’s Spanish 3 students at Elk County Catholic High School made a large altar this year in honor of actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed in 2020 of colon cancer at the age of 43. He continues to inspire courage, strength, humility, and kindness. The Spanish 2 classes made the shoebox altars in honor of someone who has passed.

It warms our hearts every year to see the work the students put into honoring and sharing memories of their family, friends, heroes, and pets.
