Yesterday, October 7, we celebrated the 43rd Annual Golden Grads Reunion at Elk County Catholic High School. Hosted by the Elk County Catholic High School Alumni Association and the ECCSS Advancement Office, this event is a cherished tradition that honors Central Catholic High School and Elk County Catholic High School graduates celebrating 50 or more years. This year’s reunion paid tribute to the Elk County Christian High School Class of 1974.
Mass was held in the ECC Chapel with celebrant Fr. Kevin Holland. Following Mass, guests met in the cafeteria for a social and dinner. Alumni President Becky Schatz, Class of ’00, welcomed everyone to the event and presented the ECCHS Class of 1974 knotted Rosaries made by ECC students in honor of their golden anniversary. Then, ECCSS President Sam MacDonald gave a brief State of the School address highlighting the new Industrial Council and High School graduation pathways. Guest speaker Mary Beth (Cheatle) Meehan from the Class of 1974 reflected on her memories at Elk County Christian High School and how honored she was to celebrate her Golden Reunion with her mother, Elizabeth (Smith) Cheatle Central Catholic Class of 1948.
