Congratulations to all our High School and Middle School participants in last week’s Envirothon competition at the Elk Viewing Center.

We are delighted to announce that our Middle School team, comprising of Gabbie Steele, Brynlee Schutz, Lilly Brennen, Sophia Shirey, and Emma Buhler, demonstrated their unwavering dedication and hard work, securing first place in the Envirothon competition. The High School teams also had a strong showing, placing 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 10th, a clear reflection of their commitment and skills.

At the Envirothon, teams of five students compete in field testing using their knowledge in five topic areas: soils and Land Use, Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Wildlife, and Environmental Issues. Each year, a current environmental issue is chosen as the “hot topic” for this station and the oral presentation component.

Thank you to all the DCNR staff who helped prepare our students for the competition over the last several months.
