On Wednesday, May 8th, the 5th grade class at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School visited and toured the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum in Ulysses, PA. As part of the Woodhick Day Education Program, students had the opportunity to view blacksmithing demonstrations, use a cross-cut saw and auger, watch the Shingle Mill in action, and learn what life was like in a logging camp. The class was then treated to delicious homemade ham, bean, and riddle soup!

The Mission of The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum is to serve its diverse community by actively working to preserve and share the history of Pennsylvania’s forests, inspiring others to become better stewards of Pennsylvania’s forest resources and heritage.
