Today was Nature Day at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School.

Award-winning author and photographer Kathy Miller visited the school to talk to the students about chipmunks, backyard birds, writing nature stories, and photography. Students even had a special visit from Chippy Chipmunk, who says, “Read, Write, Imagine, Create, and Explore Nature!” Kathy Miller’s Chippy Chipmunk book series weaves the best of the visual and language arts, science, photography, and storytelling to make backyard nature accessible and fun. The second-grade class got to dig for Pumpkin Seeds with Mrs. Gillen, while the fifth-grade class built birdhouses with Mr. Ginther that will be placed in the school’s community garden and donated throughout the community.
