Last week, Dannielle Mason from Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services of Elk, Cameron, and McKean counties came to speak to the third class at St. Leo School about the Too Good for Drugs Prevention Program.

Too Good for Drugs (TGFD) is a school-based kindergarten through 12th-grade prevention program. It builds on students’ resiliency by teaching them to be socially competent and autonomous problem solvers. The program introduces and develops social and emotional skills for making healthy choices, building positive friendships, communicating effectively, and resisting peer pressure. TGFD teaches five essential social and emotional learning skills:

  • Goal Setting

  • Decision Making

  • Bonding with pro-social others

  • Identifying and managing emotions

  • Communicating effectively
