Today for Discover Catholics School Week is all about ECC’s FBLA Program!

What is FBLA?
FBLA is the largest business Career & Technical Student Organization in the world. It is an organization that exists on the national, state, regional, and local levels. FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. ECC’s chapter is very active. They have been recognized nationally as Champion Chapter for two years (Silver level in 21-22, Gold level in 22-23). Additionally, ECC has been recognized for eight consecutive years as a Pennsylvania Outstanding Chapter.

What grades are eligible to join?
At ECC, FBLA is an extracurricular activity that students in grades 9-12 can join. About 25% of the high school’s student population are members of FBLA. Additionally, this year, ECC began a middle-level FBLA that is being offered as a middle school elective to grades 6-8. The middle school currently has 12 members.

How often does FBLA meet?
ECC’s FBLA chapter meets monthly. Additionally, the officer team meets 1-2 times per month.

What life skills are students learning?
The FBLA chapter at ECC runs a small business. The school store and vending machines support the program’s financial needs for regional and state-level events.
Students learn leadership skills, community service, and business ethics.

What events do FBLA participants attend?
Students participate in the competitive events program at the regional and state level. Last year, 24 students qualified for the state-level competition held each spring in Hershey, PA. FBLA members attend the State Leadership Workshop in the fall, the Regional Leadership Conference in the winter, and the State Leadership Conference in the spring.

Thank you to Mrs. Marlene Stubber for running the FBLA program and preparing our Future Business Leaders!!
