On Thursday, October 5, the middle school girl’s at St. Leo Classical Academy celebrated October, the month of the Holy Rosary by constructing a beautiful 50 foot floating Rosary. The girls assembled the rosary in the gathering space of St. Leo Church and upon finishing, welcomed the entire school into the body of the church to not only take in the spectacular sight, but to pray the rosary as a community, led by their Pastor, Fr. Justin Pino. After reverently praying the rosary, students sang, “O sanctissima” (O most holy) which is a Roman Catholic hymn in Latin, seeking the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It took about an hour to assemble the Rosary with the help of the efficient team of girls who tied the 60 balloons together and steered them clear of many obstacles making it outside to prepare for a Eucharistic Procession. Fr. Pino led the procession and was accompanied by Fr. Kevin Holland. Altar servers and the entire St. Leo staff and student body followed and received a beautiful blessing as parents and friends of the school looked on.
It was truly a beautiful sight, to see it taking on a life of its own and floating gently into the sky and then being brought down to be tethered for the evening for all of the passing motorists to enjoy. The enormous 50 ft. Rosary was a wonderful testimony to the Blessed Mother, the Eucharist and our beautiful Catholic faith.
