Tim Pearson is a native of Saint Marys, Pennsylvania and a 1989 graduate of Elk County Christian High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University where he was commissioned from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in 1994 as a Communications and Information Officer. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Computing and Information Systems from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Mr. Pearson retired from the Air Force on January 31, 2015 as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 20 years on active duty. His final assignment was with the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, Washington DC. He led a joint team that was responsible to develop strategies, governance & policy for U.S. military communications systems.
Prior to the Pentagon, he commanded the 332nd Expeditionary Communications Squadron, Joint Base Balad, Iraq. While in command of the 332nd, he was instrumental in the U.S. exit from Iraq in 2011. He was also the Commander of the 56th Communications Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona from June 2005 to June 2007. Over his 20-year career, he has had 10 assignments and lived in nine different states.
Mr. Pearson’s awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, three Air Force Meritorious Service Medals, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal as well as numerous other individual and unit awards. He was also a qualified Parachutist.
He deployed six times to the Southwest Asia Theater including once to Afghanistan and twice to Iraq in direct support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
Mr. Pearson teaches the Medal of Honor class at Elk County Catholic High School. The course focuses on the stories of Medal of Honor recipients and how they demonstrate and articulate many of the abstract principles on which our nation was founded. It is designed to provide students with opportunities to explore the important concepts of integrity, courage, commitment, sacrifice, patriotism, and citizenship and how these values can be exemplified in daily life.
He was sworn in as the City Manager for the City of St. Marys on October 5th, 2015 and served in that position until December 31st, 2020. He was responsible to City Council for the administration of all City affairs including the planning, administering, directing, and overseeing of all City operations including the enforcement of all laws and ordinances of the City. He directed and supervised the administration of the Police Department, Public Works Department (Street Crew, Sewer Crew, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant), Finance Department, Community and Economic Development Department, and the Code Enforcement and Permit Office. He managed a $12M annual budget. Mr. Pearson also served as the city’s Emergency Management Coordinator from December 2014 to April 2020.
Mr. Pearson is the son of Dave and Margie Pearson of Saint Marys. Pennsylvania. He is married to the former Bonnie Eisenman of Venus, Pennsylvania and together the couple has two daughters: Katie who lives in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, and Ellie who lives in St. Marys, Pennsylvania.
