Last week students at St. Marys Catholic Elementary School participated in a dress down day to raise money for the children and families of Ukraine. All donations raised went toward the Mountain Seed Foundation. In recognition of Ukraine’s flag, students wore blue and yellow.
The Mountain Seed Foundation was started by 1998 ECCHS Alumni Nathan Schmidt who lived in Ukraine for three years. The Foundation works with partners inside Ukraine and in neighboring European countries to assist refugees. While the Foundation’s current mission is to provide shelter, clothing, and food; their ultimate goal remains to provide healing, resilience, and professional development opportunities for Ukraine’s affected children.
SMCES students had a chance to meet virtually with Mr. Schmidt this week to discuss Ukraine’s history, the impact of war on the region, and how we can help.
