As part of the school’s celebration of Catholic Schools Week,  students and staff from St. Marys Catholic Middle School and Elk County Catholic High School gathered together to celebrate mass on February 2,  the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord.   The mass bagan with a blessing of candles that will be used throughout the next year,  this is customary on February 2, which is also known as Candlemas day.

Fr. Kevin Holland,  ECCSS Campus Minister was the celebrant for the mass with students from SMCMS and ECCHS serving as lectors and in music ministry.

At the conclusion of the mass,  Fr. Kevin blessed the prayer boxes that were created by middle school students during their school-wide art project on the previous day.

It should be noted that the mass marked the first time in two years that students from SMCMS and ECCHS gathered together for mass!   Students have been meeting in smaller groups for mass, since the school reopened in August of 2020.
