Important message from ECCSS President Sam MacDonald:
As you may have heard, schools across the nation today became aware of a Tik-Tok challenge encouraging students to threaten violence in their schools tomorrow, Dec. 17. While no threats have been made at any of the schools in the Diocese of Erie, and no credible threats have been received in any Elk County Schools, we are writing to make sure you are aware of this situation.
We intend to have a full and productive day at school tomorrow. We are making all of our faculty and staff aware of the situation, and we are reaching out to local law enforcement to request some extra attention on all of our campuses, just to reassure the entire school community.
If your children ask you about the situation, please let them know that school leaders take their safety very seriously, and we are always looking out for their well-being. It might also be a good time to reiterate that they should report any threatening language to an adult, and to never repost threats that they might encounter on social media.
I apologize for interrupting your evening, but we wanted you to know that we are aware of the situation and reacting accordingly.
