Elk County Catholic Names New Head Coach for Boys Varsity Soccer
Elk County Catholic High School is pleased to announce that it has named Mrs. Kelli Brannock as the
head coach of its boys varsity soccer team.
“Kelli has a wealth of high-level soccer experience as both a player and as a coach,” said ECC Athletic Director Aaron Straub. “She knows the Xs and Os of the sport as well as anybody. She also understands ECC’s philosophy of using athletics to build young men and women of high character. I am very happy that Kelli will once again be serving in a head coaching role at Elk Catholic.”
Brannock played four and a half years of varsity soccer at Seton Catholic Central High School in Plattsburgh, New York, where she broke the NY State Section 7 all-time scoring record. She went on to play four years of varsity soccer at the University of Rochester, participating three times in the NCAA Division III tournament. She graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Brannock served as an assistant coach in the ECC boys soccer program the past two years. She was also the ECC girls head varsity soccer coach from 2013 to 2014, and an assistant from 2011 to 2013. She was the girls head varsity soccer coach at Owensboro Catholic High School in Owensboro, Kentucky, leading the team to the All A state championship in 2017 and Region 3 championship in 2018.
“I have been involved in soccer most of my life. I think it is fair to say it is a passion of mine.” Brannock said. “A lot of my coaching experience has been here at ECC. We have a strong program with a lot of young talent. I truly believe that participating in high school sports can be an integral part of the educational process. From time management, to being a member of a team, dedicating hours of practice, to competing to win, there is so much opportunity for student athletes to learn and grow. I look forward to helping the players develop as individuals and as a team both on and off the field.”
Straub noted that Brannock steps into a program that has grown substantially over the years. “We have had a lot of continuity,” he said. “Coach Adam Baily and then Coach TJ Weaver led our boys team for more than 28 years. They had a lot of success and they developed a great deal of interest in the sport. We have a very good group of athletes in the program who are looking forward to the upcoming season.”
Brannock is currently self-employed as an operations consultant. She has previously worked in engineering, sales and management for major corporations such as International Paper, Weyerhaeuser and Merck. She lives in St. Marys with her husband Steve and her son Timmy.
