Kreckel Enterprises Inc. names Olivia Matha 2021 Student of the Year!
Olivia is a member of the Senior Class of 2021 at ECCHS and she is active in the Art Club, Students for Life, the Recycling Club, Fall Cheerleading, and the Drama Club. Olivia also serves her church by singing in the choir at St. Leo’s Parish, and her community by assisting in small gardening projects in downtown Ridgway.
She is also a National Honor Society inductee.

The award is presented each December to a deserving student in the Senior Class at Elk County Catholic High School in memory of Lavern G. Kreckel Jr. who is a member of the Elk County Christian High School Class of 1963 which was the first class that graduated from ECC.
Kreckel went on to work at Powder Metal Products (Now MPP) on Washington Road in St. Marys as a Machinist and Class A Tool and Die Maker from 1963 until retiring 2008 after 45 years of service. While working a full time job he helped to establish Kreckel Enterprises Inc. with his son Vern opening the business in 1997. Kreckel passed away in August 2017, and now his son Vern owns and runs Kreckel Enterprises.
Current winners of the award are Maddison Taylor Class of 2020, Isaac Gradl Class of 2019, and Kendra Smithbauer Class of 2018. Olivia’s name will be officially placed on the Award Wall located at Kreckel Enterprises along with Maddison, Isaac, and Kendra as a permanent reminder to all who visit the plant of the outstanding community leaders that these four young citizens are.
Kreckel Enterprises wishes Olivia the very best, and they look forward to her participating in the program in 2021.
