Hello St. Leo Families!

Since we were technically still on spring break today, Tomorrow, Tuesday will be our 1st day of the Governor’s 2 week closure.  ECCSS has determined that FID’s will begin on WEDNESDAY.  If you are wondering why, here is an explanation.  We have no idea how long this closure will last or what it’s TRUE impact will be on instructional hours. The governor SAYS we will not be punished for missing instructional hours, but he might also say that we have to use every week up until June 30 to do that. We might determine that it’s best to avoid that at all costs, for various reasons, and have some hours built up already. So starting now with the FIDs gives us that option. We have them ready. So let’s get rolling!

What’s next:
  • Locate your child’s FID Packet Envelope that they brought home last Thursday.
  • Confirm the attendance of your child either by email by 10am (kucenskil@eccss.org) or phone call to the school Wednesday morning.
  • Students should begin work on packet #1 ( pink cover sheet marked “Day 1”)
  • Teachers can be reached via email from 7:55am-3:10pm with questions.  If you are completing the packet with your child during nontraditional hours and have questions for the teacher, you can still email them.  They will be sure to answer you first thing in the morning.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education announced Friday, March 13, 2020 it received a waiver from the US Department of Agriculture to allow eligible schools to serve meals in a non-congregated setting during the 10-day state mandated school closing.  Please refer to the attachment for full details.
SCRIP NEWS

SCRIP orders will be delivered to the St. Leo Rectory for pick up beginning Thursday, March 19th.  Rectory hours are 9-Noon and 1-4 Monday through Friday.  Keep in mind that new SCRIP orders will not be accepted until after school resumes.  However, reloads and ScripNow are always available 24/7!

In order to assist middle school families grades 6-8 that may need an additional technology device at home,  we will be lending an additional device to families in need.  The purpose is to assist those families with more than one middle school student, so that each student will have access to a device if needed to complete school work.   In order to receive a loan of an additional device, please complete the form on the link below.  We will follow up individually by email to arrange for pick up of the device.

If your child left something at the school and you are suffering without it, please email me and let me know.  I will make sure you get the opportunity to stop and retrieve it.  Again, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out through email.  I have been in St. Marys for the past few days in meetings, and will continue to spend part of my day there, so email works best, even if you would like to ask me to call you.

Finally, please know that we are moving forward with good faith and prayer with the information that we have at the moment, knowing that it might change. As we learn more information, we may need to update the information we have provided to you and adjust some plans that we have in place. We truly appreciate your patience as we navigate this very unique situation that is changing moment by moment.
Prayer for Family Unity
O holy St. Anthony, I fervently ask for your heavenly intercession on behalf of my family. (Here mention your petition.)  Fill our hearts with mutual love, compassion, and understanding.  Help us to be forgiving of each other’s mistakes and failures, so that our family may reflect God’s presence in our homes and in our lives.  Grant us family harmony, unity, and peace.  Amen
