Second-graders learn the importance of farming from guest speaker

In celebration of Agriculture Week, Mrs. Diane Gillen visited the second grade students at St. Marys Catholic Elementary to educate them on the importance of farming. She read them “Right This Very Minute” by Lisl H. Detlefsen, a table-to-farm book about food and farming.
Mrs. Gillen also brought wool from her sheep and her carding combs to show the students how to prepare wool for spinning. This tied in with the story the students had previously read “The Goat in the Rug” by Charles L. Blood and Martin Link.
The kids enjoyed the stories, but they loved their guest speaker even more! Thank you, Ms. Diane, for all you do for our schools and students!
